Fall Fashion 2009: Ralph Lauren (Part 2)

Well, gang, this will be the last fall fashion post of 2009. This is the rest of Ralph Lauren's offerings for fall, which the company titled, "Fall Manor." The collection's got a great sporty, English countryside aesthetic, which Ralph Lauren is obviously going for in it's promotions.

Awww, doggie! Ahem. Clothes ... right. Carry on.

Suede Shoulder Patch Shirt

Taylor Tartan Crested Shirt

It seems like plaid's really on fire this fall and, from the looks of it, will continue to be so this winter. The red one with the suede patch is one of my favorite pieces for fall. I'm loving the silhouette. It's sleek and tailored. And the patch really gives it a little something extra. I'm not too crazy about that crest on the tartan, but I really like it otherwise.

Wool Cashmere Vest

This is such a great look. I like the pairing on the red plaid with this vest. It has a rugged vibe.

Leather-Patch Cable Crewneck

Words cannot adequately describe my love for this sweater. Sure, it's a basic cableknit sweater, but the color (I'm usually not a big fan of orange, but this shade is gorgeous and screams fall) and the added interest from the leather patch makes it so much more (I know, I know, that's a little dramatic, but go with me).

New Lady Riding Jacket

Grady Wool Herringbone Jacket

Cruz Suede Hacking Jacket

Ralph Lauren really delivered with his tailored jackets this season. These are gorgeous.

Carlotta Calfskin Bootie

Hazel High Heel Riding Boot

I love shoes. What girl doesn't?! Even if I would probably never actually wear these, they sure are pretty to look at.

Ricky French Calf Bag

Simple and tasteful.

Fair Isle Cotton-Cashmere Vest

See previous discussion on fair isle.

Leather Stable Coat

Lovely.

And, to borrow a phrase from a famous pig, that's all, folks! Let's all take a minute to mourn the vibrant fall colors and crisp weather.

Now it's time for winter!

Fall Fashion 2009: L.L.Bean

If L.L.Bean knows anything, it's sweaters and outerwear. And fall is the time for sweaters and outerwear! Let's see what L.L.Bean has to offer this season.

Pima Cotton Flannel Nightshirt and Pajama Set

So, last Christmas I mentioned that I got my mother a Brooks Brothers pajama set. Except they were a summer set (They were cute! And on sale!). This time, I've got the right season. I bought her this lovely PJ set from L.L.Bean and had it monogrammed. It's already arrived and it's so soft and cuddly! That blue is a great color, too.

Freeport Fair Isle Cardigan

Bean's Kingfield Sweater

I also mentioned last Christmas that I'm of Scandinavian ancestry (Norwegian), so I love most things Nordic-inspired (though Fair Isle is in Scotland, the fair isle knitting technique produces a similar aesthetic as traditional Norwegian knitwear). And I especially love knitwear featuring the selburose, which is likely the most recognizable pattern.

Lined Berber Hoodie

I want to reach out and touch this jacket.

Kennebunkport Wool Belted Coat

Simple, yet stylish.

Lined Allagash Shirt Jac, Buffalo Plaid

This is a great, rugged, casual shirt. It's warm without being bulky since it's lined with insulation.

Flannel Lined Adirondack Barn Coat

I couldn't find this on the website, but I thought it was a nice casual jacket.

UPDATE: All this talk about my Norwegian-ness and I can't believe I forgot to post L.L.Bean's most famous sweater of all! Luckily, reader Kurt was on top of things and reminded me. So, here it is!

Bean's Norwegian Sweater

Classic.

Also, all this knitwear also reminded me of my favorite Norwegian retailer Dale of Norway, which is the best source for authentic Norwegian knitwear. I have been planning an Olympic fashion post (as in Beijing in 2008, Ralph Lauren is the official designer for the 2010 US team) and since Dale of Norway is the official outfitter of the Norwegian Olympic team, expect an Olympics post closer to the opening ceremonies in February. I love the Olympics so I'm very excited about it!

Fall Fashion 2009: Nautica

As they point out in their ad, Nautica is offering some great "cold weather classics" this fall. Here's a small selection.

Argyle V-Neck Sweater

An interesting take on traditional argyle in a bold color.

Ribbed V-Neck Sweater

I like the texture of this sweater. Gives it another dimension.

Shetland Wool Jacket

Cute, short, fitted jacket.

Hooded Puffer Vest

I love puffer vests. I like this color. It really pops.

Solid Telluride Coat

Nautica must have either sold out or removed this from their site since I pulled this photo since I couldn't find it. If they sold out, I'm not suprised. That's a sharp jacket.

Coastal Chest Stripe Sweater

Nothing terribly exciting. I just like it.

Fall Fashion 2009: Vineyard Vines

So, I was going about my business yesterday (dealing with school, running errands ... the usual) when I went to get the mail and what did I find but the holiday Vineyard Vines catalogue. That's when it hit me. I really need to get that VV post up. It was like a sign from above! Or the VV marketing machine. Anyway, here it is (let's forget it's long after the week and a half I said it'd be, mmkay?).

Speaking of marketing, I'm taking a marketing class right now, so let's pretend that's the reason I love to look at ads and promotional materials.

Vineyard Vines makes me wish it was summer. But they do have some great fall looks.

Whale Embroidered Corduroy Skirt

Even in the picture this corduroy skirt looks soft. I love the bright colors popping against the navy.

Rope Plaid Tiller Skirt

Cute nautical twist on a traditional plaid.

Compass Rose Cami

I have a vision of this adorable camisole layered under a fall must-have: the solid cardigan.

Micro Gingham Madeline Shirt

Typically, I'm very wary of ruffles. I'm not overly girly in my personal style, so I tend to shy away from frilly ruffles. But, I really like the subtle ruffle detail on the cuff.

Harpin Ruffle Shirt

See above for the ruffle discussion. Again, I like this ruffle. I know these ruffled button downs are a bit trendy these days, but I'm OK with this one. It's not too overpowering. I also really like the color combination on this shirt.

Galley Hoody

Comfy.

Fair Weather Fair Isle Sweater

Great color combination. Love the anchors.

Vineyard Vest

I saw this in the catalogue. It looks so soft and warm.

Ship Shape Toggle Cardigan

A nice, thick cardigan. I like the wide collar.

Nor'Easter Jacket

This is a great jacket. It's been raining so much here the last few days that I've come to love it even more.

Long-Sleeve VV Sails Pocket T-Shirt

Just a T-shirt. But I like it.

It's that time of the Vineyard Vines post where I trot out all the gorgeous men's shirts. Enjoy.

Holyoke Gingham Murray Shirt

Brett Plaid Murray Shirt

I love how VV doesn't let a little thing like "fall" get in the way of bright spring colors.

Oak Plaid Tucker Shirt

Fleece 1/4-Zip

Puffer Vest

Ahhh, down.

2-Tone Nor'Easter Jacket

This jacket makes rainy days seem so much better.

It was worth the wait, no?
